75 Year Old Man speaks to 25 Year Old Man

I'm trying to understand and empathize with those who will decide Canada's future

Yesterday in a small Ontario town, I was standing in line at a convenience store waiting to pay for my milk. Ahead of me was a young man, maybe 25 or 30, accompanied by his wife and 2 kids, maybe 4 and 6. A family like this is typical of the town.

His muddy workboots gave away his probable occupation.

The kids were clamoring for candy and the family seemed to be having fun. The stressed look on the father’s face told a different story. He was carefully counting his change only to find he was short a couple of dollars.

It left me wondering what his life was like and what it is going to look like in the years to come. He has a long road ahead of him. I didn’t have to ask him how he voted in the election last week.

That encounter inspired today’s post.
